Global FC is a community at our foundational level. To support our youth we rely on a network of micro-communities made up of Team Mentors built around each soccer team. This community aspect allows us to leverage high level relationships through mentorship to address the skills and assets the youth will need to develop.

Beyond the soccer training, through this micro-community, team mentorship model, our youth have access to:

• Specifically designed team mentor activities facilitated to develop skills and assets outlined in our Portrait of a GFC Member
• Individual Matched Mentorship for select youth that demonstrate a need
• Individual Academic Mentorship for select youth that demonstrate a need
• Connection to school and/or community resources facilitated by our Director of Community Integration

Global FC mentoring is different!

Global FC mentoring is grounded in the philosophy that all young people need the guidance and support of positive influences and relationships to develop and flourish as human beings, overcome personal challenges, and reach their full God-given purpose and potential. In turn, they become ambassadors, empowered to create a better and more just community and society. Global FC mentoring accomplishes this by providing youth:

• Opportunities to develop skills and assets represented on our Portrait of a GFC Member, and a sense of responsibility for the course of their own lives.
• Friendship and emotional support essential to overcoming life’s challenges.
• Guidance in key areas such as academic engagement, post-secondary planning, and relationships with friends and family.
• To hold on to and celebrate their unique cultural identity and heritage, while absorbing the positive aspects and influences of the Western culture.
• To build a strong individual and family narrative.
